Following arraignment on six counts of burglary in the second degree, , 22, was sent to Suffolk County Jail, according to the SCDA’s office.

Police charged Giglio with the alleged burglaries early Friday morning after they arrested him Thursday night at his home in North Lindenhurst.
The burglaries occurred between July and October of this year, and SCPD officials shared with Patch the locations of five of the six burglaries with which Giglio was charged.

According to the SCPD, one burglary occurred on Marie Street in North Lindenhurst in July; one was on 44th Street in North Lindenhurst on September 1; one occurred on Hawkins Boulevard in Copiague (unknown date); one was on Evergreen Street in North Lindenhurst on September 12; and one happened on Alleghany Avenue on September 27.
First Squad detectives told Patch Friday night they’d been investigating several burglaries in the area, and they were alerted to look into Giglio – who’s been a known person to the police, they said – by two uniform officers from the precinct.
“He was known to many in the area, and two officers located Giglio and notified detectives. After further investigation into him, we found an outstanding warrant for criminal contempt, with the underlying charge being criminal mischief,” Detective Sergeant Kevin Cain told Patch.
That led detectives to arrest Giglio at his home on Marie Street where they found “numerous proceeds” from the alleged burglaries, according to Cain.
“By 5 a.m. Friday morning we were able to charge Giglio with six counts of burglary,” Cain said.
Some of the proceeds that detectives recovered have been identified by victims, he added, and police are continuing to contact other victims.
Though Giglio was arrested and charged with six counts of burglary, First Precinct detectives still consider this an on-going investigation.
“We’re still looking into any outstanding burglaries and any correlation there might be in the types of burglaries,” Cain said. However, he said, Giglio is only person who’s been arrested and charged in this investigation right now.
Detectives are also continuing to work closely with the Property Recovery Bureau, which monitors pawn shops, jewelry stores and stores dealing with the sale of precious metals.
In addition, detectives said if anyone believes he/she has information about the investigation, then he/she should contact Crime Stoppers by phone (800-220-TIPS), by text (text “SCPD” then a message to CRIMES, or 274637) or by e-mail (TipSubmit.com). All calls, text messages and e-mails will be kept confidential.
