Oktoberfest Kicks off in Lindenhurst
Annual event features rides, games, antique cars and, of course, a beer garden with German food and entertainment.

Every year as the weather turns cooler and Lindenhurst heads into Fall, residents know Oktoberfest is right around the corner.
This year is no exception, and at 5 p.m. Oktoberfest once again takes center stage in the village.
The three-day event – sponsored by the Lindenhurst Rotary Club – begins this evening with a mid-way featuring rides and games along Hoffman Avenue. Admission is free, and rides on Friday are pay one price, according to the club.

is kids’ day, with rides from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for $2.00 each. The mid-way will also be open until 9 p.m.
On Wellwood Avenue will be closed to traffic 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. to allow residents to visit stores and all sorts of vendors with arts and crafts up and down the street.

The mid-way will be open once again with rides and games. Food will be available for purchase. There’ll be an antique car show, too.
And in Village Square and the Second District Court parking lot the Beer Garden will be set up, and an array of German food and entertainment will be available.
That includes bratwurst, potato pancakes, hot dogs and hamburgers served by 's Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1421 in the Beer Garden, according to the .
Plus, there'll be a table set up by the with homemade cakes, breads , cookies and hand-made crafts, with all proceeds going back to the village's fund, according to the society.
