Photos: OLPH School Hosts Successful American Girl Fashion Show

Proceeds from annual fundraiser go to help the school.

The Fall season brings new television premieres, Academy Award-contending movies and exciting new musical releases – but the premiere event in fashion seemed to be right here in Lindenhurst recently when OLPH School hosted its annual .

It's an event that's become an annual custom of sorts for the OLPH School in Lindenhurst that attracts quite a following.

“This year, the show was bigger, brighter and more fun. We had lots of exciting prizes to raffle, and new costumes for the girls to experience," Cristina Neves, president of the OLPH Parent’s Association. "With the help of the community and the school administration, we saw a super-successful show.”

The show involved the donated time and effort of several different sponsors and scores of community volunteers.

Indeed, from dressing the girls to hair arrangements and floral arrangements, and from food at each show on November 4 to 6 right down to the linens and decorations, every item was either donated or paid for by the parents, members of the school, local businesses and surrounding community.

And all of the proceeds of the annual fundraiser, which featured styles of yesterday and today, through a colorful presentation of historical and contemporary fashions, went to benefit the school.

OLPH students as well as some guest models from the local community were dressed to represent different time periods from the past to the present day, and American Girl dolls also walked the runway with girls.

“Working with American Girl, we had models in more than 30 different outfits, walking a runway in front of their family and friends," Neves said.

The entire OLPH School gym was also transformed to look like a high-fashion cat walk - complete with lights and chandelier. Raffles and delicious treats were served to all of the guests.

"We've only heard positive feedback so far, and this type of community turnout for the event assures us that next year's show will be even bigger and better," she added.
