Pedestrian Killed, Struck By Car In North Amityville: Police

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A man is dead after he was struck by a car while crossing the street in North Amityville on Wednesday, Suffolk County Police said.

At about 4:55 a.m., the driver of a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling southbound on Route 110 when his vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 59-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Hyundai was not injured, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
