Peruvian Women’s National Soccer Team​ Member Visits LI Alma Mater

LINDENHURST, NY — A member of the Peruvian Women’s National Soccer Team recently made a pass to her Lindenhurst alma mater.

Lindenhurst High School graduate Claudia Cagnina recentlly visited Andre Dattero’s Italian class to share her experiences playing professional soccer — all while speaking Italian.

Cagnina's mother was born and raised in Peru, while her paternal grandparents were born in Rome, Italy.

She graduated Lindenhurst High School in 2015.

In addition to Peru, she spoke about her experiences internationally, such as playing for in Finland, Iceland, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.

She currently plays as a midfielder for Swedish club, Sandvikens IF.

As part of the fun visit, Claudia brought the classes outside to teach them some soccer drills while continuing to expand the students’ knowledge of the Italian language, the Lindenhurst Union Free School District said.
