Lindenhurst Village Officials Sworn In (Photos)
Mayor Tom Brennan, Trustee Mike Lavorata and new Trustee Joan M. Masterson take their oaths of office given by Babylon Town Supervisor Richard Schaffer.
New Lindenhurst Village Trustee was sworn in by Babylon Supervisor Richard Schaffer at the reorganization meeting on Monday night.
Swearing In
Her family joined her in the second-floor meeting room of to watch her become an official of the Village board.
This is her first term as trustee, and will serve for the next four years. She formerly served on the Two-Family Review Board for approximately five years.

Masterson replaces former , who stepped aside earlier this year after eight years in office. Caravella decided not to run due to family obligations.
She joined and who were also both sworn in for another four-year term on the Village board on April 2.

Masterson, and Lavorata were on after and receiving the endorsements of all four political parties in Lindenhurst at the .
Thank You
All three thanked Lindenhurst for the chance to serve and for the support.
"I'm looking forward to working with everyone on this board. Thank you very much for the opportunity," Masterson said.
"It's an honor once again to be re-elected," Lavorata said. "But a lot of it has to do with great leadership. And Mayor Brennan you deserve a lot of credit."
"Thank you. I'm looking forward to another four years," Brennan said. "But after eight years and this next four, I plan on retiring."
Upon news of his eventual retirement, Deputy Mayor Kevin McCaffrey said with a smile, "Never say never. The mayor has said this before, and has run again."
McCaffrey then thanked Caravella, who attended the meeting, for her eight years of work and dedication.
"It'll be different, but it won't be the same," he said. "And now I look forward to working with Joan. You're joining a very cohesive board under Tom's leadership and with the help of [Village Administrator] Shawn [Cullinane] and [Deputy Village Administrator] Doug [Madlon]."
Mayor Brennan - along with Lavorata and Trustee Maryann Weckerle - also thanked Caravella - who'll continue to head up the Village's Summer Concert Series, with the help of Weckerle, according to Brennan.
The mayor and the trustees also all welcomed Masterson on board before proceeding with the rest of the meeting - which involved several reappointments - and announcing the next board meeting is Tuesday, , at Village Hall, 7:30 p.m.
