Police ID Pedestrian Struck in N. Lindenhurst

SCPD identified Copiague resident Ramon Peralta as the pedestrian seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash in North Lindenhurst on Monday.

The Suffolk County Police Department has identified the person who sustained serious injuries after being on Sunrise Highway Monday afternoon as Ramon Peralta, 50, of Copiague.

Police said Robert Pflug, 28, of Lindenhurst was driving a 2002 Nissan Altima on the eastbound Sunrise Highway entrance ramp east of North Wellwood Avenue when he hit Peralta approximately 4 p.m.

Pflug told police that as he attempted to merge into the right lane of Sunrise Highway, Peralta, ran in front of his car.

Peralta was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with head and facial injuries, and was listed in critical condition.

Pflug was not injured in the crash.

The SCPD is asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
