Popular Lindenhurst Bakery Announces Closure After 30+ Years
"There are just too many factors affecting us right now and we needed to be realistic with ourselves," the owners wrote on Facebook.
LINDENHURST, NY — Mr. Bill's Cheesecakes — a Lindenhurst staple for over 30 years — has closed permanently, its owners announced on Thursday.
On Facebook, owners Scott and Jackeline Stuart announced the closure of the bakery, which sold homemade New York style cheesecakes.
"There are just too many factors affecting us right now and we needed to be realistic with ourselves," they wrote. "I know many others have been affected as well and it's just a horrible situation for all."

Some factors that led to the decision include price increases on ingredients, shortages on cream cheese and paper goods, a rise in gas prices and a lack of staff, Jackeline Stuart told Patch.
"We definitely tried our best but ultimately this was the best decision for our family," she said. "We will definitely miss Lindenhurst and all our customers that have supported us."

The news comes around six weeks after the bakery decided to close temporarily, citing shortages.
In the four hours since the Stuarts made the announcement, their Facebook post was flooded with comments of love and support.
"Over the many years, thank you for providing the best cheesecakes anywhere around," one commenter wrote.
Another said the bakery was "part of every holiday and gathering for as long as I can remember."
Mr. Bill's Cheesecakes was popular in the Lindenhurst area — the bakery had a 5-star rating on Facebook, and a 4.5-star rating on Yelp.
Scott and Jackeline Stuart said in their post that the decision to close hit them hard.
"Please respect our decision as it was a hard hit for us, we have a family to think about," the post reads. "That being said we'd like to thank all our customers for keeping us going this long. We truly are blessed to know there are people that care about us and that have supported us."
