Reader Feedback: SCPD School Zone Patrols
Despite renewed efforts by police to enhance student safety, some Lindenhurst residents continue to express concerns.
A new school year in the has begun and the Suffolk County Police Department has stepped up patrols and concentrated on preventing unsafe driving in school zones.

However, some Lindenhurst residents and Patch readers are still concerned despite learning of the effort. They expressed those concerns on Lindenhurst Patch earlier this week. Here’s what they had to say:
LindyMom*4: “This seems as if it will be geared more for the Middle School or High School...What about the people who double park down a one-way street making it nearly impossible to get down the street?”

Barbara Fox: “The William Rall School is extremely hazardous. People run red lights every day, and the crossing guards risk their lives because of these lunatics. But I don't know what is worse...the risk to the kids from the crazy drivers or the parents who drop their kids off in unsafe ways so they do not have to get out of their cars. These areas must be monitored well beyond the beginning of the school year.”
peach is: “People rarely drive slowly past that school. Once I reported a Town of Babylon employee in a town car driving fast past the school while talking on his cell phone.”
