Report: BlackBerry Outage Spreads to U.S. [Poll]
Outage affecting users across the globe goes local.
The outage that’s been affecting BlackBerry users around the globe this week has come to Lindenhurst and much of North America, as well.
According to a report on ABC News’ Technology Review blog Wednesday morning, Research In Motion – whose BlackBerry service has had reported outages in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and parts of Asia already this week – has acknowledged problems with North American services today, too.
Indeed, as of this morning there were widespread complaints of outages in the United States. The company, headquartered in Canada, confirmed that the problems here in the States are similar to what it had seen in other parts of the world.

“BlackBerry subscribers in the Americas may be experiencing intermittent service delays this morning,” RIM said in a statement on its website today.
“We’re working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, and we apologize to our customers for any inconvenience. We will provide a further update as soon as more information is available,” the company added.

For the past three days BlackBerry has had transmission snafus on other continents due in large part to a key part of its communication system that was down. Adding to the problems was a backup system that wasn’t working either.
“Message delays were caused by a core switch failure in RIM’s infrastructure,” the company said on Twitter late Tuesday. “Now being resolved. Sorry for inconvenience.”
“We’re aware many of you are experiencing service delays. Restoring full service is our number one priority,” the company assured users on Twitter on Wednesday.
