Report: Lindy Boys Upset Hills West to Advance in Basketball Playoffs
Lindenhurst Varsity Boys Basketball pulled off a win (67-64) against number-one seed Half Hollow Hills West on Tuesday.
The team pulled off an upset win (67-64) over Half Hollow Hills West on Tuesday afternoon to move forward in Section XI Class AA playoff action.
According to a report on Newsday.com, Lindy took the lead early in the first quarter on , with 14 points to HHH West's five. In the next quarter Hills West racked up 23 points to the Bulldogs's 16, but Lindy still led at the half, 30-28.
In the third quarter Hills West kept it tight with 22 points to Lindy boys' 20 points, but that only meant the two teams were tied at the buzzer at 50 a piece, according to the same report.

It came down to the last quarter, and it was Lindenhurst that edged out the Colts, racking up 17 points to HHH West's 14, according to the report.
At the final buzzer on the number-eight seed Bulldogs emerged victorious, 67-64, winning the right to play Central Islip, number five seed and rival for the top spot in League II play this season, on February 24.

According to Newsday.com, Stew Warren's 31 points and 20 rebounds created some "Lind-sanity."
The report indicated that it was Warren's play after Lindenhurst point guard Aaron Coughlin picked up his fourth foul in the third quarter that made the difference for Lindenhurst winning the Suffolk Class AA quarterfinal against two-time defending Class AA Champion Hills West.
The team now goes on the road this Friday, , to meet up with CI - which Lindy both times they met this season - at Farmingdale College at 5:30 p.m. to see if it can redeem itself and move forward in the playoffs.
Coached by Bret Kearney, the team ended its season in second place behind in League II, with a record of 11-3 and overall record of 14-4.
But as the season was Athletic Director Anthony Amesti about the team's chances in the playoffs, and with the upset over Hills West, the team could have enough fuel to go far.
