Second Strong Storm Moving In: Long Island Forecast
Wet, windy and warm weather will end the weekend again. Here's the latest.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Another strong storm is forecast to begin Sunday afternoon and continue into Tuesday. Once again, the precipitation is forecast to be plain rain, and once again temperatures will soar into the mid 50s.
"After gathering steam from the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico early this weekend, the storm will rocket up the East Coast on Sunday and Monday along a path that is typical of storms during the winter months but carrying an amount of moisture usually seen during the summer," said Bill Deger, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.
Most of the weekend will be dry, good for holiday-themed activities. There's a chance of rain Sunday afternoon, and then rain is likely to be heavy overnight. It'll be mild, too. Temperatures will climb starting Friday, and could reach the high 50s on Monday before dropping back into the 40s.

As the storm moves north, the downpours could dramatically affect commutes on Monday in the New York Tri-State area. It could also have an effect on one of the busiest travel times as the holiday week begins. Interstates could be affected and ripple effects could be felt at airports all across the country, Deger said.
Quieter weather is expected to return in the storm's wake, he said.
