September 16 Lindy Edition: Fundraisers & Football

What's happening today and this weekend includes a football game, soccer challenge, blood drive, walk-a-thon, car wash, open house, pet expo and pub crawl.

TGIF, Lindy! Here’s what you need to know today and this weekend:

1. The Lindenhurst Varsity Football team will be at Patchogue-Medford tonight at Click for a preview, and look for a wrap-up of the game. Be sure to also check out Lindenhurst Patch’s events calendar for all of the latest football and fall sports games.

2. The Christina Renna Foundation, Inc. Memorial is set for Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the Long Island Blood Services Busmobile. The Walk-a-thon starts at 10 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Cancer Research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. There will also be a race at 9 a.m.; registration starts at 8 a.m. All will take place at the Lindenhurst Middle School. Click for details or call 631-225-2074.

3. The Bunko Party at the Knights of Columbus-OLPH Council #794 will start at 7 p.m. tonight. Note: For tickets call Cathy Connors at 631-226-7879 as no tickets will be sold at the door. Also on the KoC’s calendar is the OLPH 140th Anniversary Communion Breakfast, which will honor all the priests who have served OLPH Parish. The breakfast will follow the 9 a.m. mass and be held in the school auditorium. The Council and District Soccer Challenge for kids, ages 10 to 14, will also take place Saturday at Amityville Beach at 8 a.m. For further information call the KoC’s G. K. 4. The will start at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at bar. The fundraising event benefits Lindenhurst families in need and features raffles and karaoke. Click here for more details.

5. The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1421’s is set for Saturday at 8 p.m.

6. The Fourth Annual Long Island Family Festival is set for at Tanner Park. It will feature live music, carnival rides, the Long Island Pet Expo and more. Click for more details and hours.

7. There are several events happening at the , including the month-long and at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. The LML will begin opening on Sundays again from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. . See also the website for more details and events.

8. will hold a tasting from on Saturday.

9. An open house will take place on at , a Lindenhurst non-profit. It will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

10. The is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pep Boys parking lot on East Sunrise Highway. It’s $5.00 a wash and will help defray some of the medical costs and financial issues associated with the medical situation of Mason Batz, a six-year-old boy from Lindenhurst with leukemia.
