Stars Come out for Lindenhurst Schools' Astronomy Night

Students and parents explore time and space from the comfort of the classroom.

Lindenhurst School District’s science department recently hosted an astronomy night in the middle school library for Lindenhurst's astronomers to learn more about space.

The night included multiple viewings of the planetarium show, scavenger hunts, indoor telescope viewings and creating models of the solar system. Students also created a planisphere, an instrument that helps people learn how to recognize stars and constellations.

“Lindenhurst’s budding astronomers had a great time,” said science coordinator Janna Ostroff. The Amateur Observers Society of New York provided guidance and resources.
