Superintendent: Student Responsible for Bomb Threat ‘Apprehended’

Richard Nathan tells Patch the student has been found, and emergency procedures district put in place at high school have been canceled.

The student allegedly responsible for the at has been , school district officials told Lindenhurst Patch.

“We have apprehended the student who was responsible for the ‘bomb threat’ message,” Superintendent Richard Nathan told Patch via e-mail late Monday afternoon.

A typed message in a classroom calculator was found at the high school this past Thursday. It referenced a on Tuesday, October 18. The district reported the threat to Suffolk Police First Precinct, where detectives have been investigating the threat.

It was not immediately known whether or not the was , or what was the motivation behind the threat.

However, as a result of the student being discovered, the superintendent told Patch that, “We have decided to cancel all emergency procedures for tomorrow.”

The ’s additional security measures were “to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff….The health, safety and welfare of our students and staff are always our top priority. Please be assured that the Lindenhurst High School is, and will continue to be, a safe place for our students and staff,” the superintendent added.

School and associated after-school activities will now run as scheduled on Tuesday, according to the district.
