Talk Back Poll: Aldi to Open in 2013

Aldi, a German supermarket chain, has said that it'll be opening a in Lindenhurst in .

There's been that it'll open at 455 Park Avenue - the same shopping center where LA Fitness Center and Rite-Aid are - and there's an application to build on the site filed with the New York New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Aldi officials declined to comment on that, simply saying that the exact opening date and location is to be determined.

“All other details aren’t being released to the public at this time,” according to Bruce Persohn, Aldi South Windsor division vice president.

In any event, according to Persohn, Lindenhurst is the next Long Island location, and it joins the location in that opened last August and the one that opened last week in .

Persohn said Lindenhurst was chosen because of population density, proximity to competition, cost of the property and traffic patterns.

Now, with so many stores that seemed to have closed in recent years in the community, the question becomes:
