Teen Critically Injured After Getting Hit By Car: Police
A teen was hit by a car in North Amityville and hospitalized in West Islip on Monday evening, police say.
AMITYVILLE, NY —A pedestrian was hit by a car and critically injured in North Amityville on Monday evening, according to Suffolk County police.
Carl Dezume, 17, of North Amityville, was walking westbound across New Highway at the intersection of Pine Road when he was struck by a 2007 Toyota Prius traveling southbound on New Highway around 9:10 p.m., police said.
Dezume was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of critical injuries, police said.

According to police, the driver of the Toyota, Rene Romero, 45, of Brentwood, was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
