'Unimaginable Tragedy': Fire Destroys LI Family's Home And Business
A GoFundMe has been organized to help a Lindenhurst family whose home and business was destroyed by a devastating fire on Wednesday.

LINDENHURST, NY — A multi-generational family was displaced on Wednesday after a fire destroyed the house that served as their home and business on 51st Street in North Lindenhurst.
According to a GoFundMe created for the family, Esmeralda Mejia lived in the house with her 19-month-old son and her grandparents. She also ran a daycare out of the residence.
Yosmery Rodriguez, who organized the fundraiser, wrote:

"This morning, Esmeralda faced an unimaginable tragedy. Her home was destroyed in a fire, leaving her, her 19-month-old son, her grandparents, and her daycare without a place to live or work.
"Thankfully, everyone made it out safely, but they lost nearly all their belongings and memories.

"Esmeralda has been dedicated to running a loving daycare, caring for children, and creating a safe space for families in our community. She is now left without a home.
"Esmeralda is one of the most hardworking, kindhearted people we know. She's always the first to help others, and now she needs our support. Any amount you can contribute will make a difference and show her she’s not alone!"
