Village: Remove Cars Fri. from N. Broadway, 4th, 6th Streets for Paving
Lindenhurst residents will need to remove their vehicles from parts of North Broadway and North Fourth and Sixth Streets by 7:30 a.m. Friday for a road microsurfacing project.
The will be microsurfacing the roadway in a few sections of the community on Friday, and is asking residents to remove their cars from the affected streets by 7:30 a.m. to make way.
Microsurfacing will take place in the following locations:
- North Broadway, from Hoffman Avenue to North Wellwood Avenue.
- North Fourth Street, from Hoffman Avenue to New York Avenue.
- North Sixth Street, from Hoffman Avenue to Harrington Avenue.
The affected roads are expected to be reopened late Friday afternoon - by 3 p.m., if all goes smoothly, according to Deputy Village Administrator Doug Madlon.

“We started today (Thursday), and tomorrow (Friday) we’ll be able to finish it,” Madlon told Lindenhurst Patch late Thursday afternoon.
He indicated that the project was initially rained out, but the Village got the go-ahead when the weather cleared at the end of this week.

This project differs from the road project that took place a few weeks ago on parts of and , explained Madlon.
That project involved milling (grinding) the road down by an inch and a half and repaving the surface. That procedure, according to Madlon, is the better way to go for high-volume roadways like North Wellwood Avenue to extend their life and prevent damage like potholes from happening.
This week’s road maintenance project involves more cost-effective microsurfacing for the aforementioned lower-volume roads.
“Here on these less-traveled roads we’re microsurfacing, which means we’re putting a quarter inch of new material over the existing road,” Madlon said. “It protects the top layer of the roads, and helps extend their life over the long haul.”
However, like the project completed last month, this, too, will be paid for by New York State CHIPS funds, he noted.
