Village, Town Are Prepared for Snow in Lindenhurst

Both DPWs are prepped and ready to go once the snow hits, according to Lindenhurst Mayor and Babylon Town officials.

As snow moves into Lindenhurst overnight into Saturday, the Department of Public Works for and for the Town of Babylon are all set.

That's according to both Mayor Tom Brennan and Town officials who spoke with Lindenhurst Patch Friday afternoon.

"The trucks are loaded and ready to go," said Mayor Brennan.

"We're definitely in good shape," added Tim Ruggeri, town spokesperson. "We're completely prepared and ready to go."

Both told Patch that as it gets closer to the time the snow is due to arrive, the Village and the Town will have a clearer picture as to when to mobilize their DPW trucks and get them moving to start salting and sanding the roads, and later plowing, if that becomes necessary.

"Once the snow starts and the roads start getting coated, then we'll be heading out to salt and sand right away," noted Brennan.

"The balance is to get the crews out right when it's most effective, and not too early," added Ruggeri, who also said that residents serviced by the Town could call 311 if they have any snow-related issues on Saturday. That number will route them to the Town Public Safety office.

The snow, , is supposed to make its way into the area overnight, with about an inch of snow expected on the ground by 7 a.m. Saturday.

The snow is expected to continue throughout the day with showers tapering off Saturday night. Then the temperatures are expected to drop into the twenties overnight Saturday and be below average on Sunday.

Accumulations expected are anywhere between one to four inches for Lindenhurst and Long Island, .

"I believe the snow is supposed to be more on the East End, and hopefully it won't be bad," said Brennan. "But no matter what, we're all set and ready to go."
