Woman Killed In North Amityville Fire: Police

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A woman is dead after a fire set in her North Amityville residence on Wednesday, Suffolk County Police said.

At about 7:10 a.m., First Precinct police officers responded to a fire at a Broadway apartment.

The woman was found deceased inside the residence, police said.

She will be identified during an autopsy performed by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical
Examiner, police said.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire, but it does not appear criminal in nature.
