Patch gives Long Beach readers five things they need to know each weekday morning, with events and activities ranging from sports to the arts to important meetings. We’ll also inform you of upcoming stories or those you may have missed. Here’s what’s happening in the busy beach town Monday:
1. School’s out! Long Beach Public Schools will be closed from April 18 to 26 for the spring recess.
2. Earth Arts on West Park Avenue will hold a spring art camp for children (ages 5 and older) from April 18 to 26. Parents can sign their kids up for one session or all of them. Each class offers a new clay/ceramic project and pizza lunch.

3. Sports fans should know that while Long Beach baseball starts a three-game series against Bellmore-JFK at the high school at 10:30 a.m., the LBHS lacrosse team hosts a team from California at 1 p.m. at the middle school.
4. Seniors, it’s time to get in shape. Instructor Stephanie Durso leads a low impact Latin dancing class for seniors on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. at the Magnolia Senior Center on Magnolia Boulevard.
5. Later today on Patch, we’ll have a story for Passover on the history of the Jewish people in Long Beach, as well as a police report about a man arrested and charged with pouring tar throughout his Shore Road apartment building.
