Get the scoop on what's happening in Long Beach each weekday.

Visit Patch each weekday morning to find out five things you need to know about Long Beach for the day. Whether there’s an important city council meeting, a fundraiser car wash going on, or you need to catch up on stories you missed, we’ll make sure you stay informed about what’s shaping your city. Here are five things you need to know for this mostly cloudy and sometimes rainy Tuesday:
1. Patch is looking for outspoken members of the Long Beach community to share their thoughts about the school budget and school board elections leading up to the May 17 vote. If you have something to say, we’ve got the platform to make sure your voice is heard. To participate in writing columns, call or send an email to Patch editor Joseph Kellard at (516)408-8241 or josephk@patch.com.
2. The Long Beach City Council meets the first and third Tuesday each month but will not meet tonight. Due to the Passover holiday, the meeting was rescheduled to tomorrow, Wednesday, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
