Thursday brings a mostly sunny but breezy day with temps in the mid-50s to low-60s Here’s what else Long Beachers need to know today:
1. Long Beach baseball wraps up a three-game series against Bellmore-JFK at the high school at 10:30 a.m., while LBHS boys’ lacrosse takes on Lynbrook at the middle school at 7:30 p.m. Return later for coverage of both games.
2. Singer and Broadway producer Harvey Granat will play many classic tunes from George Gershwin’s "Great American Songbook” starting at 2 p.m. at the Long Beach Library.
3. The Long Beach Catholic Regional School on West Broadway will be closed today for the Holy Thursday holiday.
4. Later today on Patch, we’ll report some encouraging news on the unemployment front in Long Beach, and we’ll post a gallery of photos of murals around the city. We also look to update our school budget story as part of Patch’s series of budget and board election leading up to the May 17 vote.
