1. Long Beach Patch looks to recruit some local bloggers to offer their original thoughts on various subjects and issues. Read our announcement and contact us if you're interested in contributing or want more information: josephk@patch.com.

2. The Long Beach Middle School and Lido School will host a joint budget breakfast at LBMS at 9:30 a.m., and the middle school will hold a parent/principal roundtable to talk about issues concerning the school at 7 p.m.

3. The Long Beach Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The board will vote on the case of a hamburger chain restaurant, Jake’s Wayback, proposed for 945 West Beech Street, and will hold a hearing on a proposal for a fast food take-out restaurant at 951 West Beech Street, among other cases.

4. Long Beach boys’ tennis team took their rackets on the road and defeated Garden City on Wednesday. Patch will have coverage of the match.

5. Later today, Patch will also post House Hunt, our popular feature on open houses in Long Beach, and a weekly gallery of photos that today will focus on outdoor statues and sculptures around town. In case you missed it, last week we feature a gallery of murals.
