D'Esposito Faces Claims Of House Ethics Impropriety: Report
The congressman is accused of putting his ex-girlfriend and his fiancee's daughter on the government payroll, the New York Times reports.
ISLAND PARK, NY — Rep. Anthony D'Esposito faces allegations of improper House ethics rules, a new report published by the New York Times alleges. According to a New York Times article, the congressman allegedly placed an ex-girlfriend and his fiancee's daughter on the government's payroll.
D'Esposito, in a tight relection bid against Democrat Laura Gillen, hired his longtime fiancee's daughter as a special assistant in his district office, with her salary getting as high as $3,800 a month, the Times reported.
Additonally, D'Esposito (R-Island Park) hired a woman, Devin Faas, who he was allegedly having an affair with, for a part-time job paying $2,000 per month, the Times said.

"The latest political tabloid garbage being peddled by The New York Times is nothing more than a slimy, partisan 'hit piece' designed to distract Long Islanders from Democrats’ failing record on border security, the economy, and foreign policy," D'Esposito said in a statement. "My personal life has never interfered with my ability to deliver results for New York’s 4th district, and I have upheld the highest ethical standards of personal conduct. Voters deserve better than the Times' gutter politics."
D'Esposito, a former NYPD detective and Town of Hempstead councilman, was elected to Congress serving the 4th District in 2022, flipping the seat red when he defeat Gillen, the former Hempstead Supervisor.
