A fishing boat crashed into the Wreck Lead Bridge that spans Reynolds Channel from Long Beach to Island Park early Wednesday morning.
According to Nassau County Police Department, at about 12:15 a.m. a commercial fishing vessel hit the bridge, which Long Island Rail Road trains use to cross the bay as part of the Long Beach branch.
“It had some sort of mechanical difficulty,” a public information officer told Patch about the boat Wednesday morning. “There was minor damage to the bridge.”
The U.S. Coast Guard responded to the accident. No injuries were reported, the officer said. The LIRR reports regular service on the branch.
