We don’t drive east or west on Broadway in summer; we take Park Ave.
Broadway and thoroughfares near it are not only filled with cars making U-turns, darting for scarce spots, some perhaps distracted, or even high. But also with so many bicyclists, some toting surfboards, or talking on their phones. Those, along with the usual pedestrian traffic of joggers, dog walkers, carriages, and strollers, make our streets near the beach a challenge.
