Hundreds Hunt for the Golden Egg

More than 500 bunnies braved the cold and wind at the Long Beach Recreation Center's fields for the department's 50^th Annual Egg Hunt last Saturday.

With parents, grandparents and friends cheering the children on as they took to the fields to find pastel eggs filled with jellybeans, as well as prize-winning eggs. Hunters who found those eggs received Easter baskets filled with candy and gifts. Other eggs had stuffed lambs, dogs and rabbits, and since this was the Rec’s golden anniversary egg hunt, there was a single golden egg for each age group that took to the fields on April 16.   

The winners were:

3-year-olds and under

Ana Liveikis, Caden Kaplan, Caitlin Suhrake, Gabriella Marino and Lee Anna Soto. 

4-year-olds

Gavin Smith, Dylan Smith, Sarah Heller, Orla Donahue, James and Gregory Walpole

Five-year-olds

Jaeda Santiago, Melissa Ferrare, Richard Behr, Marisa Werner, Okinyo Menya and Shawn Culligan.

Six-year-olds

Johnny Reed, Joseph Cieleski, Kaitlyn Walsh, Christian Mandelos and Connor Escoffery. 

Seven-year-olds

Colleen Radin, Isabella Marciniulc, Scarlett Cifarelli, Annelise Whelan, Tray Regan and Sean Kelly. 

Eight- and nine-year olds

Christian Delprete, Grace Power, Jayden Butcher and Dominic Cieleski.
