1. The Long Beach Historical & Preservation Society will host a Boardwalk Stroll n' Chat in which local historians talk about the buildings and other features that lined from yesteryear. People will meet at 6:45 p.m. at the Historical Museum at 226 W. Penn St. and the tour starts at 7:15 p.m. on Laurelton Boulevard boardwalk.
2. Long Beach's surfing schedule from July 18 to July 22 allows for surfing between Magnolia Boulevard and Laurelton Boulevard and in the West End at Ohio Avenue beach. Check the schedule for permanent beaches, times and other information.
3. There is a free parenting workshop "Be the Parent You Want to Be" at 12:30 pm at Seaside Celebrations in the West End. Erika Stroh, an educator, consultant and parent coach, will facilitate this workshop that is ongoing through July and August.
4. Coming up today on Patch: A story on a group of mothers who exercise while strolling along the boardwalk with their young children, our weekly local jobs listing feature, and our Viewfinder gallery of photos once again highlighting the beach at dusk.
5. If you were too busy to log on to Patch last Friday, here are some stories that passed you by: City Councilman Len Torres sent City Manager Charles Theofan a letter recommending an inquiry into the Deco Bike contract, a feature story on an architecturally rare home in Long Beach, and a look at a championship girls' Little League softball team.
