As the work week draws to a close, Patch figures we'll let you in on the many events and activities going on in Long Beach today and this weekend:
1. In the mood for a movie today? Long Beach Cinema will show the following films:Captain America: The First Avenger (PG-13) at 12:30, 3:20, 6:10 and 9 p.m.; Cowboys & Aliens (PG-13) at 12:10, 2:40, 5:10, 7:40 and 10:05; The Smurfs (PG) at 12, 2:20, 4:40, 7, and 9:30; and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2: 3D (PG-13 ) at 12:05, 2:45, 5:30 and 8:15.
2. On Saturday, Earth Arts on West Park Avenue will host a Harry Potter Kid's Night Out, complete with Butter Beer Mugs, Clay Sorting Hat Boxes, Harry Potter trivia, pizza and beverages, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. RSVP is a must for this $30 program. Registration is ongoing.

3. The Last Station, a film about the last days of Russian author Leo Tolstoy's life starring Helen Mirren, Christopher Plummer and James McAvoy, will show at 2 p.m. at the Long Beach Public Library.
4. UnSound Surf shop will hold a paddle out memorial for deceased surfer/teacher Daniel Bobis at Laurelton Blvd. beach 6 p.m. Sunday.
5. Coming up on Patch today: We'll have stories on a candlelight vigil held for Bobis at Laurelton beach Thursday night and a fundraiser held for him the previous evening in Mineola, an article about local temples that are stepping up security as the 10th anniversary of 9/11 nears, a review of a popular East Park Avenue restaurant, and a profile on a rising young musical talent from Long Beach.
