Island Park Man Gets Christmas Eve Appearance Ticket For Harassing Praying Delivery Driver: Police
The man threatened a praying 18-year-old Wednesday evening, police say.
ISLAND PARK, NY. — An Island Park man was arrested Wednesday night after he threatened a praying man outside an Island Park home, police said.
Nassau County police reported the arrest of 67-year-old Thomas McGarry Thursday morning, and said McGarry faces one count of second-degree aggravated harassment.
The incident took place after an 18-year-old man delivered food to a home in Island Park, at which point he realized it was time to pray, police said. After removing his prayer mat from his vehicle, placing it on the ground and kneeling on it, McGarry began yelling at the 18-year-old using derogatory language, police said. When the 18-year-old explained that he was praying, police said McGarry made a violent threat.
