Here are five things you need to know for Wednesday:

1. West School parents, listen up! It’s time to don your reading glasses for the school’s “Big PARP Night" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. PARP stands for Parents As Reading Partners and is designed to encourage mothers and father to read more with their children.

2. The Long Beach High School girls’ lacrosse team takes on Massapequa at 4:15 p.m. at Long Beach Middle School.

3. In case you missed it, Patch posted a preview of the LBHS boys’ lacrosse team, as well as a story on how Long Beach rallied around two local hockey teams that had outstanding seasons.

4. Wednesdays means networking night at the Allegria Hotel, at Broadway and National Boulevard, from 4 p.m. to midnight. Don’t forget your business cards!
