Nassau Man Assaults Deli Clerk In Fight: Police

OCEANSIDE, NY — A Rockville Centre man assaulted a deli clerk in Oceanside on Sunday, Nassau police said.

In a disturbance at Venom Beer and Convenience on Merrick Road at around 2:25 p.m., Stephen J. Jensen was asked by a 27-year-old woman working there to leave the store numerous times before he pushed and threw a metal case at her causing her to suffer a minor injury to her left shoulder, police said.

She later discovered that the two $1 bills, displayed on the office desk, had been swiped by Jensen before he left the scene, police said, adding that a short time later, officers found Jensen and placed him under arrest without incident.

The two dollar bills were later found in Jensen's left jacket pocket by detectives, police said.

Jensen, 27, of Rockville Center, has been charged with second-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree assault, and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

He is scheduled for arraignment Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
