Queens Jewel Thief Faces Deportation After Arrest: Police

Police say they found the man to be in the country illegally after arresting him.

OCEANSIDE, NY. — A Jamaica, Queens man’s arrest was reported Tuesday in connection with a grand larceny that occurred in Oceanside on Oct. 23, police said. Subsequent to his arrest, police said the man was found to be in the country illegally and subject to deportation proceedings.

Nassau County police said 19-year-old David Beckham Adam stole a bracelet from Kravit Jewelers, located on Long Beach Road, after he and a woman posed as customers, asking an employee to show them multiple bracelets that they were interested in buying. After the duo left the jewelry store, police said, the jeweler realized an $11,500 bracelet was missing.

On Sunday, Nov. 16, Adam was stopped while driving near the intersection of Rockaway Turnpike and Peninsula Boulevard in Lawrence, where police said he presented a New York driver’s license. The license, police said, had been issued after he had entered the country illegally.
