Town Of Hempstead Breaks Ground On New Athletic Complex

POINT LOOKOUT, NY — The Town of Hempstead broke ground on a major, multi-million dollar project as an athletic destination for generations to come.

Officials unveiled their plan on Thursday for two large-scale turf multi-purpose fields lined for lacrosse, field hockey and soccer.

The side-by-side fields, which will have a combined turf of 390 feet long by 488 feet wide, is expected to become a spot for teams from throughout the country.

"Today is a historic day in the Town of Hempstead as we are demonstrating our commitment to youth athletics by providing a premier destination for local and visiting teams to utilize," said Supervisor Don Clavin. "This investment into recreation will not only address local field shortages but will also serve as a prime location for teams and tournaments, bringing extra visitors and revenue to our township."

The fields will feature goalposts for soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse, along with an electronic scoreboard for events.
