Two Officers Injured As Queens Man Resists Stolen Vehicle Arrest: Police

The incident took place just after 9 p.m. Thursday, police say.

OCEANSIDE, NY. — Two police officers were hospitalized Thursday night after a Queens man resisted arrest when he was found in possession of a stolen Jeep in Oceanside, police said.

Nassau County police said officers made a traffic stop on the jeep driven by 26-year-old Macsteve Diaz at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, at which point the officers found that the Jeep had previously been reported stolen. Diaz resisted arrest for driving the stolen Jeep, injuring two officers in the process, police said.

Diaz was subsequently arrested and faces charges on two counts of second-degree assault, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, one count of illegal possession of a vehicle identification number, one count of resisting arrest and multiple traffic violations, police said. His arraignment was scheduled for Friday, police said.
