'We're Not Stopping,' Petros Krommidas' Mom, As Crews Keep Searching

LONG BEACH, NY — Petros Krommidas has been missing for four weeks. But volunteers are still searching for him.

He was last seen on April 23 when he went swimming in Long Beach.

Ray Kelly, a retired Suffolk County detective, led a small group on Monday using drones to look for Krommidas along the shore in Lido Beach, Point Lookout and Jones Inlet, he posted to Facebook.

Earlier this month, officials from Nassau County organized search teams, including an aerial crew and drone operators.

Krommidas' mother Maria has maintained her positivity for her son's recovery despite the dwindling hope.

"We, your family and all the people you’ve moved and brought together — we’re not stopping," she posted to Facebook on Monday.

Other than police discovering his clothing and his car near the Long Beach boardwalk early in the search, there have been no other signs of him.

The Nassau County Legislative candidate turned 30 on Monday, as family and friends sent balloons into the water off Long Beach in honor of his birthday.
