Over 100 firefighters responded to the fire at 78 Mulberry St., which reportedly spread from the fifth floor of the building. Reports stated that the two individuals who died as a result of the fire were a 91-year-old woman and her 52-year-old son. (Patch)
  2. A teenager was stabbed by a Lower East Side storeowner after the two engaged in a fight. The incident occurred before 3 p.m. on Thursday, and the victim was found slumped over in a Duane Reade on Delancey Street. 3. Worksite preparations have begun at a controversial South Street development site. The proposed superstructure has been a point of contention between Two Bridges residents, the city's Department of Buildings, and the Chetrit Group, the firm behind the project.
