Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:

  1. Developer Joseph Chetrit closed on a purchase of a Two Bridges development site. The 260 South St. location was purchased from CIM Group and L+M Development Partners for $78 million. According to reports, Chetrit is planning for construction of a 1,300-unit complex between 64, and 70-story towers. (The Real Deal)
  2. A new development on the corner of Second Avenue and East Houston Street is nearing its maximum height. The 10-story building, named Treetops, will feature 10 full-floor luxury apartments, and the completion date is set for July 2022. Resident amenities will include ground floor storage space, and an onsite gym. (Bowery Boogie)
  3. Unlicensed marijuana dispensaries continue to open in Lower Manhattan despite warnings from state regulators. These dispensaries, such as Street Lawyer Services in the Lower East Side, have adopted a "gifting" model that allows them to sell digital content, and offer marijuana products as additional gifts. The state Office of Cannabis Management has taken note and has responded by sending out 52 “cease and desist” letters so far. (Gothamist)
