Here are the top stories in Lower East Side-Chinatown today:

  1. NYPD officers pepper-sprayed and arrested a homeless man who was living in a Manhattan subway tunnel. Near the Delancey-Essex station, the man had built a makeshift structure in one of the tunnel's cutouts. Police reported that the man was swinging a wire at them when they tried to apprehend him and had to resort to using force. (Audacy)
  2. A woman was attacked and sexually assaulted on Sunday morning while she ran along the Hudson River greenway in Lower Manhattan. The attack took place just before sunrise, when the suspect knocked the victim down as she ran. The assailant stole the 39-year-old victim's phone before fleeing on his bike. (CBS NY)
  3. Local Jewish radio personality Nachum Segal's Grand Street headquarters was destroyed in a fire on Sunday. Fire marshals believe that an electric fire had started the blaze, which destroyed numerous meaningful photographs along with a 20-volume scrapbook showcasing his career. The radio network has launched a fundraising campaign to help offset the costs of the damage. (Bowery Boogie)
