Attacker Pummels 84-Year-Old Man On LES Park Bench: NYPD

Police said the attack was unprovoked.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — An 84-year-old man was attacked in broad daylight on Tuesday morning while sitting on a park bench on the Lower East Side, police said.

The man’s attacker remains unknown and has not been arrested.

The NYPD said that the attacker’s approaches the 84-year-old at about 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday as the man sat on a bench near 124 East Broadway. The assailant then began to punch the man in the face, repeatedly striking him with a closed fist, according to authorities.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment after his attacker ran away, authorities said.

Officers are still hunting for the attacker and released surveillance photos of him on Wednesday.
