Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:
- A multi-vehicle crash shut down eastbound lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday. One individual was hospitalized in critical condition while others were treated for minor injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time. (NBC New York)
- A new hotel quietly opened on the Bowery in the place of the former Sister City. The Untitled at 3 Freeman Alley was apparently designed to be booked through Airbnb, and is seeking a full liquor license six months after its opening. According to documents filed with Community Board 3, restauranteur Gadi Peleg is in charge of the Mediterranean style cuisine offered by the hotel's four designated hangouts. (Bowery Boogie)
- Bee Bee, a rescue dog, was saved by the NYPD Emergency Service Unit after it fell into the frigid East River. Can Liu, a worker at Animal Haven. was walking the dog along with two of his own near the South Street Seaport when an off-leash dog came and attacked his Rottweiler. A worker at a nearby bar witnessed the puppy fall into the river and called the NYPD. (New York Post)
