NYC Cat Cafe Robbed By Armed Thieves, Police Say

Fortunately, no people — or cats — were injured during the Lower East Side stickup, according to authorities.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — A cat cafe on the Lower East Side was robbed on Monday night by two teens who said they were armed with a gun, police said.

The robbers, believed to be teenagers, entered Koneko, located at 26 Clinton St., on Monday night at about 10 p.m., an NYPD spokesman told Patch. The robbers indicated that they had a gun inside a bag before demanding money from the register, police said. Employees at the cafe handed over $850 in cash before the teens fled, the spokesman said. No people or cats were injured during the robbery, according to authorities.

No arrests have made and the investigation is still ongoing as of Wednesday morning, police said. (Want more local news? Sign up here for free news alerts and neighborhood updates from Patch.)
