Lower East Side Affordable Housing: Lottery Opens At Essex Crossing

Essex Crossing is now accepting applications for the development's affordable apartments.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — Applications for 104 affordable housing units in the Lower East Side are now open.

The apartments are opening at Essex Crossing, a sprawling development that's being built on the Lower East Side between the Williamsburg Bridge and Grand Street. Of the 104 apartments accepting lottery applications, there are 40 studios, 17 one-bedrooms, 42 two-bedrooms and 5 three-bedrooms. The units have rents ranging from $519 monthly for a studio to $3,424 monthly for a three-bedroom.

The deadline is May 1, and accepted applicants can begin moving into their new homes as early as Sept. 1.
