Lower East Side Pickle Fest Arrives This Weekend

A pickle-lovers' paradise that cannot be missed comes to the LES this Sunday.

LOWER EAST SIDE, MANHATTAN — The Lower East Side Pickle Fest is coming to the neighborhood this Sunday, and it's kind of a big "dill." Presented by the Lower East Side Partnership, the festival will feature dozens of local food vendors, and not just pickles.

Pickles from Messy Brine, Grillo’s Pickles, Crooked Carrot, and the LES's own The Pickle Guys will be featured, according to the Lower East Side Partnership release. LES restaurants and shops are participating, such as Wassail, Ice & Vice, Sam’s Spring Roll and some new Essex Street Market establishments, which include Osaka Grub, Arancini Bros, and pickle cheese dog place Saxelby Cheesemongers! There will also be "GIANT games" like Jenga, Checkers, and pickle cornhole.

There will be a home pickling contest divided into two categories: pickled pickles and pickled non-pickles. The competition is fierce: Last year's winners of the contest were New York Magazine, Epicurious and @foodbabyny, according to the Pickle Fest website.

The merchandise for the festival this year is filled with puns and political references.

The festival takes place Sunday, Sept. 25 from noon to 5 p.m. on Orchard Street between Delancey and East Houston streets.
