Lower East Side Synagogue Defaced, Police Say
Congregation Beth Hachasidim De Polen on the Lower East Side was defaced on Thursday evening or early Friday morning, police said.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — A synaguge on the Lower East Side was defaced sometime this week after a vandal wrote "KKK" and "F--k" on the outside of the building, police said.
The words were found scrawled in black marker on the exterior of the Congregation Beth Hachasidim De Polen, a synagogue located at 233 East Broadway. The NYPD's hate crimes task force is investigating the vandalism, which was reported to authorities at about 1 a.m. on Friday, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
No one has been arrested in connection with the vandalism. Police are also investigating a separate report of vandalism at the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew on the Upper West Side. Mayor Bill de Blasio encouraged anyone with information on the incidents to call police.
