Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:

  1. A man was shot in the chest on the Lower East Side and was able to drive himself 3 miles to seek assistance at NYU Langone Hospital in Kips Bay. The man was driving near Madison and Montgomery streets when he was shot sometime before 1:30 p.m. on March 30. Anyone with information regarding the shooting can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.   2. A man was shot in the neck on Mulberry Street on Monday around 10:30 p.m. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, and police stated that the victim was highly uncooperative. The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have yet been made. (PIX 11 NY)
  3. Bar Veloce is looking to expand into a new location on the Bowery. Owner Frederick Twomey is planning to occupy there for the latest incarnation of his establishment. The newest location will represent Veloce's seventh, although only 5 remain operational due to challenges faced during the pandemic. (Bowery Boogie)
