Man Who Brutally Beat Woman In LES Park Gets 9 Years In Prison

The vicious beating left the woman with bleeding in her brain after he slammed her head and repeatedly kicked her motionless​ body.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — The man who viciously pummeled a 61-year-old woman near Sara D. Roosevelt Park last year was sentenced to nine years behind bars Wednesday.

Devin Brown, 25, previously copped to second-degree attempted murder for the savage May 20, 2017 beating that left the woman with bleeding in her brain after he slammed her head against the pavement and repeatedly kicked her motionless body, according to prosecutors and police.

The brute, who in past court hearings called the woman a "bitch," apologized in Manhattan Supreme CourtWednesday, the New York Post reported.

“I just want to apologize profusely for my actions,” said Brown, the Post reported.

Brown approached the woman near the park's derelict storage facility at Forsyth and Stanton streets around 6 a.m., knocking her to the ground with a punch before digging through her pockets. He continued to kick and punch the motionless woman on the ground, according to court papers.

The mercilessly assault only came to an end when a passing good Samaritan intervened. Brown fled the bloody scene but officers canvassed the area and cuffed Brown shortly after, police and prosecutors said.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with bleeding in her brain and had to be intubated.
