Chinatown, Lower East Side Celebrate National Night Out Against Crime
NYPD community affairs officers celebrated with community members Tuesday evening while teaching them best safety practices.
If you ever wanted to party with a police officer, you had your chance this week.
New York City's National Night Out Against Crime happens annually on the first Tuesday of August, and Chinatown's Precinct 5 and the Lower East Side's Precinct 7 celebrated Aug. 2. It marks a day where community affairs NYPD officers teach communities different best safety practices at local festivals for different precincts.
Precinct 5's Night Out Against Crime event was held from 4 to 10 p.m. at 19 Elizabeth St. between Bayard and Canal streets. There was food, entertainment and "important info to keep you safe," according to the precinct's Facebook group.
